Dance / Movement
Eventually, this class may be double blocked with an actual DANCE class (ballet, jazz, tap). For now, we learn easy "movement" combinations, and students explore the basics of choreography including :
- The group doing different movements at the same time - The group doing the same movements at the same time (unison) - Different movements at different times - Same movements at different times - Jumps - Turns - Different directions - Different formations (picturization) - Travelling steps - Stationary movements - Levels - Story / Message - Musicality
Singing
The basics of good vocal production. Phrasing, breath support -diaphragmatic breathing, blending with other voices, connecting the head and chest registers into a mix/middle voice. Acting the lyrics. Repertoire - student choice - learning how to pick songs that fit you!
Learning ABOUT Musicals
Every musical is a reflection of the time period in which it was written. There are different genres of musicals. Some people think of DISNEY ANIMATED MUSICALS or an operatic sound when they hear the words musical theatre - but musicals can include pop, rock, rap, and many other genres of music.
